Batchwood residents have been slightly less affected by the decision made by Tesco to give up on the London Road site, but there are larger implications.
On a positive side their intention to enlarge their centre of town position could help to keep footfall in the town centre high, however there is a risk that it will be at the cost of business being taken from other retaillers.
From a different perspective it has however released a large site in town which could be an invaluable location for a new school which would help to cater for young people and parents in the centre of town. This would in turn reduce the pressure on popular schools which border the town centre area such as bernards Heath.
The Liberal Democrats will continue to push for a new primary school in St Albans and keep you posted.
